| 1893-06-23 | No. 1 locomotive from the Parry Sound Colonization company's road was turned out of the C.A.R. shops repaired and repainted and generally fixed up. The engine, of very old construction, burned wood altogether and had a funnel fully five feet in diameter on its smoke stack, making the whole engine appear ancient; the company found wood easier to use on its line because it was handier and cheaper there than coal. On June 29 the engine was lingering around the depot waiting for its tender, which was being repaired and repainted, its unique and ancient appearance attracting much attention. The June 29 item says "No. 2"; the transcriber notes this should presumably be No. 1. | Ottawa Free Press 1893-06-23(Transcribed by Colin J.
