1890-11-10'No. 15,' a splendid new engine, was rebuilt at the C.A.R. shops on Elgin Street, manufactured originally by the Baldwin Foundry company of Philadelphia but entirely rebuilt in the C.A.R. workshops under the direct supervision of Mr. Donaldson. She is a 17 x 24 cylinder engine, four wheels coupled, with an Eames brake, driving wheels 5 feet 8.5 inches in diameter, fitted with full equipment for heating the cars (dispensing with stoves), intended for about fifty miles an hour, and painted dark olive green and gold bearing 'C.A.R. 15'. The C.A.R. express from Ottawa to Montreal was taken down by the new engine on its first complete journey; its trial trip on the preceding Saturday, from the Elgin Street depot, ran 12 miles to Eastman's and back, in 8 minutes for the return 12 miles at a pressure of 140.
