1893-04-01A new, self-propelled steam shovel arrived for use in constructing the Parry Sound railway, to be moved to Carp once the frost was sufficiently out of the ground; it was expected two shovels would work outward from Carp in both directions. A second, larger steam shovel, "The Marion" (three-yard capacity), arrived shortly after for grading the line between Ottawa and Arnprior, with gravel cars being readied for the work. 1893-09-20Two steam shovels were working on the Ottawa, Arnprior and Parry Sound line, one at Willis' pit near Arnprior and the other at Carp village. Ottawa Journal 1893-09-20(Article headed "$75,000 in rolling stock". Transcr...)
1894-06-30The company has purchased another steam shovel of the Marion build, which will probably start work in a few days at the far end of the line. The shovel has just arrived in the Ottawa yards and is to match the same style as the one purchased last year. Another gravel pit has been purchased just above Eganville and from it will be taken the ballast for that portion of the line. Ottawa Free Press 1894-06-30(Transcribed by Colin J. Churcher in 'Local Railway...)
1896-09-04The steam shovel which is at work on the O.A. & P.S. R construction, moved from Brennan's gravel pit to Montgomery pit, about thirty miles further west.
The 1896-09-09 report says it is Fauquier's steam shovel.
