Cosgrave of the Irish Free State from Montreal to Ottawa was wrecked "at a point just east of Limoges, formerly South Indian station, at 12.05 noon" the day before, travelling at 55 miles an hour; pilot engineer A. Boyd of Montreal was killed and nine others injured. C.N.R. officials established that two horses drawing a log sleigh had run away from the Limoges loading siding and a runner of the sleigh had forced open the switch point at the east end of the yard; the train went through the switch to the passing track and derailed. The locomotive crashed into boxcars on the siding and demolished a granary, killing three teams of horses. Transcribed by Colin J. Churcher in 'Local Railway Items from Area Papers – 1928', Ottawa Railway History Circle, https://churcher.crcml.org/circle/Papers%20by%20Year/1928.pdf (file revised October-18-21). Original issue not seen. Churcher's tag is 'Alexandria'. Says the train "jumped a switch at Limogese [sic] about 23 miles from Ottawa".
