1893-11-10The O.A. & P.S. station at Carp was built in 1893. It was expected on July 28 to stand where Rivington's hill was being removed by the steam shovel; chief engineer Mountain said on August 3 that work on the station, to be built east of the "city limits" (as printed), would soon begin. By September 8 the station house was well under way, with plastering expected the following week and the contractor determined to rush it because of the fair freight business, goods being dumped beside the track meanwhile; by September 15 it was almost completed, and the station was reported completed in early November, when agent F.K. Morrison moved into it from the little shanty he had used as an office. The company was also building houses for section hand-cars along the line, two at Carp the previous week.
