| 1898-11-26≥ | The Canada Atlantic round house at Hawkesbury was burned to the ground Wednesday night. The cause of the fire is unknown. The total loss to the company is about $10,000, of which $9,000 represents the value of one of the company's engines which was completely destroyed. (Eastern Ontario Review: 'Fire broke out in the C.A.R. round house on Wednesday ... night about nine o'clock, completely destroying the building and rendering useless the engine and tender which had just been housed a short time before ... Owing, it is supposed, to the presence of oil about the building, in an incredible short time it was completely enveloped in flames.') (As reported by 26 November 1898; the source dates the event only relatively.) Filed at the maintainer's direction on the entity created for this. The entity is labelled 'Howkesbury Roundhouse'. The Eastern Ontario Review writes 'Wednesday (26/11)' but 26 November 1898 was a Saturday, so the fire was Wednesday 23 November. The Free Press and Mercury say the engine was 'completely destroyed'; the Review says 'rendered useless', and on 9 Dec that it had been taken to Ottawa to be repaired. | Ottawa Free Press 1898-11-26(Transcribed by Colin J.
