| 1895-10-07 | Rockland - work has commenced on the C.A. Railway station here and will be rapidly pushed. | 1921-12-09≥ | By 9 December 1921 (the issue date), the paper reported: "The old Grand Trunk railway station in Rockland is to be closed, according to a judgment of the Board of Railway Commissioners. This step is one of the results of the consolidation of the G.T.R, and the C.N.R, both maintaining separate stations in Rockland at present." The municipality had objected because a grist and flour mill was close to it; the board granted the application on condition that the company keep the Grand Trunk tracks between the "Y" switch and the Grand Trunk station open as an industrial siding. The item reports the Board's judgment, which was at or before the issue; the closing itself is stated in the future ('is to be closed'). Assumes the 'old Grand Trunk station' is the building on this entity. | Eastern Ontario Review 1921-12-09(Transcribed by Colin J. Churcher in 'Local Railway...) |
