| 1905-10-28 | The Canada Atlantic Railway Company | Ald. Sanderson is trying to have action taken on his motion in council regarding moving the then C.A.R. tracks from their present location out along the Rideau, to enter the city to the Central Depot through the outskirts. His proposal was to have the city buy the land used by the company at present, and the company would then be able to purchase another right of way and build new tracks with the proceeds. Motion adopted and a committee appointed. | Ottawa Journal 1905-10-28(Transcribed by Colin J. Churcher in 'Local Railway...) |
| 1905-10-30 | Galetta | Branch line is required. From Galetta to Fitzroy Harbour at once. A branch line from Galetta to Fitzroy Harbour is what the residents of Fitzroy desire. Whether this be a steam line or electric road the people are not particular. Galetta is four miles distant and a stage which is capable of accommodating half a dozen people makes the trip twice a day and in wet weather the drive is far from pleasant. | Ottawa Journal 1905-10-30(Transcribed by Colin J. | 1906-01-15 | The Canada Atlantic Railway Company | Ald. Storey has a matter in hand which he intends to bring before council shortly relating to the C.A.R. workshops. He claims he has been informed that the work formerly performed by them is being gradually moved to Montreal by the G.T.R., contrary to the agreement made when the city paid over a bonus for construction; as an example, the work of repairing or constructing passenger cars is now being done in Montreal shops, whereby a monthly wage of $600 is being lost to Ottawa. The city solicitor explains: in 1892 the city made an agreement with the O.A.& P.S. railway whereby, in virtue of a bonus of $150,000 paid, the company agreed to build and operate its construction shops either within the city limits or within one mile of them. Later the C.A.R. took over this company and with it the obligations, as did the G.T.R. when it purchased the C.A.R. Mr. McVeity advises that the company can be restrained by injunction from removing the work from Ottawa, or if this has been done, action can be entered for the return of the bonus. | Ottawa Journal 1906-01-15(Transcribed by Colin J. | 1906-04-16 | Carp | While shunting in the switch yard at Carp this morning, a car on the Grand Trunk west-bound way-freight left the rails and turned nearly crosswise on the main line. Both of the morning passenger trains were delayed until the wrecking train and crew arrived from Ottawa and cleared the line, which took over an hour. Practically no damage was done, and the accident was due to the breaking of a switch frog. | Ottawa Citizen 1906-04-16(Transcribed by Colin J. Churcher in 'Local Railway...) |

| 1906-05-22 | Bank Street | There is a rumour going the rounds which is understood to be well founded that the Grand Trunk Railway will build a suburban station at the Bank Street crossing of the company. Also that the GTR freight sheds in the canal basin will be removed when the big new Union station is erected and that the space thus left will be used for extra passenger tracks and sidings. | Ottawa Journal 1906-05-22(Transcribed by Colin J. Churcher in 'Local Railway...) |
| 1906-05-25 | Bank Street | Break Beam Dropped. The breaking of a brake beam caused the derailment of two freight cars on the Grand Trunk Railway crossing at Bank Street and for a while traffic across the street was to some extent impeded. A freight train was shunting in the Stewarton yard and a short distance east of Bank Street a brake beam on one of the cars dropped down and dragged across the ties; just as the car was going over the electric railway tracks at Bank Street the brake beam caught a wheel and the two cars left the track, veering up endwise, the rear of one crashing into the front of the other. The electric cars could not get past the obstacle, so passengers going east were transferred only as far as the GTR tracks. A passenger train from Parry Sound could not run in on the main line, but another engine and car took its passengers down to the Central depot. | Ottawa Journal 1906-05-26(Transcribed by Colin J. Churcher in 'Local Railway...) |

| 1906-09-09 | Renfrew | TRAIN ACCIDENT NEAR RENFREW. Unattached Engine Dashes Into a Through Freight Train on the Grand Trunk Railway. Traffic upon the Grand Trunk Railway was suspended owing to a rear accident, at 3.30 p.m. The through freight going east stopped a mile east of the station owing to a hot box, and was dashed into a few minutes later by an unattached engine going east which did not stop at Renfrew, nor was an attempt made to flag it. The van and three cars were demolished and seven or eight rendered unfit to travel, the balance of the train being taken ahead. The offending engine was badly wrecked. The fireman was buried for a short time beneath the coal from the tender but was rescued without serious injury. | Ottawa Journal 1906-09-10(Two near-identical reports appear under this date ...) |

| 1906-09-13 | Eastmans | STATION DESTROYED. Carlsbad Springs Station Was Burned Down. The G.T.R. railroad station here was totally destroyed by fire yesterday. Every effort was made to check the conflagration, but owing to a lack of appliances little could be done but watch the destruction of the property. The fire is supposed to have originated from the spark of an engine attached to a heavy freight train which passed through about noon, and the hot weather made all things considerably dry. The fire started at about one o'clock and the depot was quickly a blackened ruin. | Ottawa Citizen 1906-09-14(Transcribed by Colin J. Churcher in 'Local Railway...) |

| 1906-10-05 | Madawaska | New roundhouse under construction | Mercury October 5, 1906. Thanks to Colin Churcher |
| 1906-10-05 | Madawaska Roundhouse | Evidently it is the intention of the Grand Trunk Railway Co. to build up the village of Madawaska. For some time past rumours have been current that the divisional point was to be removed from Madawaska to Barry's Bay, but the present action of the G.T.R. is allaying the fears of the villagers. A gang of one hundred and fourteen men, besides several teams, are now engaged in the construction of a new concrete roundhouse near the site of the old building of five stalls, which has been inadequate to fulfil the demands of the increased traffic. | Mercury 1906-10-05(Quoting the Pembroke Observer. Transcribed by Coli...) |
| 1906-10-20 | Glen Robertson | Sad Death on the G.T.R. Mr. Homer Taylor of Montreal, a dealer in railway supplies, was killed Saturday morning by a fall from the rear end of the Canada Atlantic Express between Ottawa and Montreal. Taylor disembarked at Alexandria for a light lunch; when the train started he ran and caught the rail and step of the last car, the parlour car, but could not open the door because the platform trap inside was down. A man on the station platform at Alexandria warned him of the water tank. As the express sped up to about sixty miles an hour his position became more precarious; about ten minutes later a passenger noticed him and had the porter pull up the trap, but as the door swung open Taylor swayed, lost his hold, and fell, striking his head on the roadbed. The train was stopped and backed to the spot, but he was dead of a crushed skull when picked up. The scene of the accident was two miles from Glen Robertson. | Eastern Ontario Review 1906-10-26(Transcribed by Colin J. Churcher in 'Local Railway...) |
